What Is 12 Strand UHMWPE Rope?

12 strand UHMWPE rope is a single-braid rope constructed by braiding twelve strands of UHMWPE fiber together in a round, tight pattern. Unlike double braided rope which has a core-and-cover construction, 12-strand rope is a single layer where all fibers contribute directly to the rope strength. This results in higher strength efficiency (90-95% of fiber strength) compared to double braid construction.

UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) fiber, also known as Dyneema or Spectra, is one of the strongest man-made fibers available. It has extremely low elongation at break (approximately 3-3.5%), high energy absorption, and outstanding resistance to chemicals, UV radiation, moisture, and abrasion.
